DioNews

To keep you better informed we've created DioNews, an email news service to keep you up to date with what's happening in the Diocese of Central New York, the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion. To get DioNews, follow the directions below:

To subscribe to dionews:

Click here to subscribe. It will set you up in your mailer, where you just need to click "send". There's no need to type any message text. If that doesn't work, then send a message (its contents do not matter) to:

dionews-cny-subscribe@herberthouse.org

After receiving your subscription request, the server computer will send you back a reply checking to make sure that it was you, and not some prankster, that submitted your name to this list. If you reply to the server's request, you will be added to the dionews list.

To unsubscribe from dionews:

Click here to unsubscribe. It will set you up in your mailer, where you just need to click "send". There's no need to type any message text. If that doesn't work, then send a message to

dionews-cny-unsubscribe@herberthouse.org

If you have trouble unsubscribing, send a message to cboyle@cny.anglican.org and ask for help unsubscribing from dionews-cny. This email address has people, not machines, at the other end, so it will be slower but more understanding.

DioMail: the email listserv of the of the Diocese of Central New York
While DioNews is a news service provided by the Bishop's office, DioMail provides the opportunity for everyone on the list to post or "mail" messages to one another. This makes DioMail an excellent vehicle for people and parishes to share information and ideas. Members can ask questions, start discussions, invite people to upcoming events or publish information about their personal or community ministries.

By its very nature, you can expect to recieve more email with DioMail than compared to DioNews, but this interaction is a great way to build community.

To subscribe to DioMail:

Here is how to subscribe yourself to Diomail.

1. From the email address where you want to receive Diomail, send an email to:

majordomo@justus.cny.anglican.org

(Note: Your email message format* needs to be set for "plain text". The DioMail listserv is unable to accept messages which are sent in "html" format. You don't need to specify anything in the Subject: line.)

2. In the body of the message, type

Subscribe diomail

3. You'll receive a confirming email telling you that you're subscribed.

To send on DioMail:

To distribute on Diomail you need to be a registered user.

Simply send the message to diomail@cny.anglican.org .

(Note: Your email message format* needs to be set for "plain text". The DioMail listserv is unable to accept messages which are sent in "html" or "rich" format.)

* To change your message format in Microsoft Outlook, look for a window on your toolbar that allows you to change the "message format". If you don't see this window when you see your inbox etc, click on "Tools", then "Options", then "Mail Format" and then you should see "Message Format.

There are over 200 people on the Diomail list, so if you send email to the entire list please be certain the information will interest a majority of the readers and is not personal or of interest only to your parish. Thanks!

We look forward to having you a part of the growing CNY electronic family.
